Kaylyn's (Food For The Soul) is a restaurant that caters to those who love soul food. We believe in serving the traditions of home. The restaurant is the culmination of a dream that resulted on larger scale. Rodricus (Rod) Hunter, owner, wanted to start first with a vending cart; maybe serving hot dogs, fish and wings, but little did he know that the Lord would open up an even bigger door.

A building lay vacant at 306 18th Street North across from City Hall in Bessemer, Alabama. Passing by the building on numerous occasions, it would always catch his eye. He knew the former owners and decided to discuss becoming a tenant and entrepreneur of said location. Meetings, discussions, prayer, planning, determination and hard work resulted in Kaylyn's (Food For The Soul). Grand opening was held on May 10, 2009 with family, friends, and eager customers. It was a huge success with so many favorable comments!
Kaylyn's is named after Rod's daughter who at the time was only three years old. She was very excited to have a business in her name and today refers to it as "her" place.

The restaurant is opened Sunday through Friday. It has a small staff that delivers big each day. Food is cooked fresh daily by cooks who considers cooking a first love. Daily menus offer a variety of soulful dishes to choose from. Customer meat favorites are Turkey and dressing, Ox Tails, Meatloaf, Pig Ears, Beef Tips, and Salmon and of course that Southern Fried Chicken seasoned with Kaylyn's secret seasonings. Vegetable favorites include fried corn, greens, macaroni and cheese, and green beans.
Our motto is to "Satisfy the soulful appetite through good food and great service." Five years going strong and there is no stopping us now.
